One year

Well, one year ago today we were with friends and family... celebrating our wedding!

We've been doing this all week-end long; "one year ago right now, I was taking a nap" "one year ago right now, I was getting my hair done" "one year ago right now, we were talking to the sealer"...

One year ago, we got married. It's hard to believe it's been a year, but there it is, one year. And it's been pretty awesome. We've had one year to get to know each other better, to get a feel for what we love and what we can't stand, one year to adapt and change, one year to settle into our little dance, one year to make plenty of memories, one year of planning for the future, one year to make our little apartment a home, one year to take challenges and use them to hopefully someday make us stronger.

Anniversaries are good times to reevaluate too, and I think the only thing I would've changed is our spiritual dedication. We weren't as gospel-centered as we should have been in starting our lives together, and I paid for that dearly.

I'm setting that straight, starting now. The first year anniversary is "paper" so my gift to Andrew (and me :) was a subscription to the Ensign magazine, not so much because having the Ensign come to your doorstep twelve times a year makes you better a better person, but because I felt that not getting it was some sort of outward expression of our lack of inward commitment. I'm renewing the inward commitment, so that's my outward expression.

Here's to a year of rededicating our lives to the Lord.

"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Joshua 24:15

Being married is cool

For more than one reason. But one of the reasons is that your family suddenly doubles, and so does your extended family! Which means I get to be aunt Lulu to these cute kids :)

My favorite quote so far : "Aunt Lulu blew up my hair!" (I had just blow-dried Sophia's hair after going to the pool)

Pinkie promise

that I will post soon. My husband's family has been here this whole week and it's been so much fun spending all this time with them--I've barely had the time to miss my sewing machine! And this'll probably be the last time we're all together for a few years, so we've really taken advantage of it. I'm sad to see them go so soon :(

But coming up, I've got a couple projects waiting, including some top-sewing, alterations on my temple dress (that can apply to a lot of things; I've figured out how to lengthen my sleeves that I accidentally made a little too short.. that was really not smart) and another bathroom organization project! Oh, and an eyelet shirt--I've had my eye on some fabric (hehe... eyeing eyelet fabric...) for a while but wasn't sure what to do with it... a quick visit to Anthropologie today gave me an idea though, so we'll see how it comes through!

Lulu can't wait to get back to work :)

This is probably a bad sign...

but the hair lightener is not doing a lot of good to my scalp, and I feel like it gets worse each time I do it.
Which means that it might be time to go darker and leave it that way for a while. Meh. We'll see.
